Growth Mindset

At Ysgol Bryn Gwalia, we have an enquiry-based curriculum that is ideal for developing positive mindsets in our children. Growth Mindset is a belief that with work, perseverance, you can improve any skill.

Ysgol Bryn Gwalia are part of the Strand 3 Formative Assessment for schools project. Part of this project looks at learning culture and the work of Carol Dweck who is an authority on self-esteem. She looks at fixed and growth mindsets and the strategies for developing a growth mindset in learners.

Fixed Mindset- People with fixed mindsets will only tackle tasks which they know, in advance, they will succeed at. Growth Mindset-People with a growth mindset not only willingly tackle difficult tasks, but thrive on them.

At Ysgol Bryn Gwalia, we aim to develop a growth mindset for all staff, for parents, governors and learners themselves.
