Croeso i Blwyddyn 1 - Dosbarth Mrs Hughes a Miss Allen
This term our topic is: The Secret Life of the Zoo.
We are working for Miss Parker-Symthe. Her Zoo is failing to look after the animals properly and therefore they are unhappy 😞 and poorly. We have been busy this half term researching and even making appropriate habitats and enclosures for all the animals. We even visited Chester Zoo to see the enclosures and talk to the staff about how to make the animals safe, happy and well. Since our visit to Chester we have been learning how to care for the animals and help them if they are sick. We are now ready to show what we know to Miss Parker-Smythe so we can help her animals in her zoo. 😀
Numeracy - We have been learning the names and properties of 2D and 3D shapes and how they fit together. We have also been learning which shapes are symmetrical and using mirrors to make symmetrical pictures and patterns.
Language - We have been reading Rumble in the Jungle, learning and reading a variety of poems about animals and working with adjectives, alliteration and similes to write our own animal poems and a poem about Mummy for Mother’s Day. We are now reading Dear Zoo by Rod Campbell. We have wrote a letter to the zoo describing what pet we would like, we are making story maps and soon we will be planning and writing our own Dear Zoo story with different animals and descriptions.
